This guide explains how to configure your Android device to access your email account. This tutorial was created running the Android OS 11. If you are using an older or newer OS version, these instructions may differ.

Add Account

  1. Open Settings on your device
  2. Navigate to Accounts
  3. Scroll down and tap on Add Accounts
  4. From the list of all possible applications choose to add an IMAP account to your default mail application.
  5. Enter the email address of your mailbox and tap Next.
  6. Enter the password of your mailbox.

Incoming Server Settings

  • Enter the account User Name.  (This is your email address)
  • Enter the account Password.
  • Enter the Server:  mail.b.hostedemail.com

If prompted for Port and Security type, use the following settings:

  1. Enter the Port: 993
  2. Select the Security Type: SSL/TLS (Accept All Certificates)

Tap Next

Outgoing Server Settings

  • Make sure Require sign-in is on
  • Enter the account User Name. (This is your email address)
  • Enter the account Password.
  • Enter the Server: mail.b.hostedemail.com

If prompted for Port and Security type, use the following settings:

  • Enter the Port: 465
  • Select the Security Type: SSL/TLS (Accept All Certificates)

Tap Next

Final Configurations

  • Sync frequency: How often your phone will connect to the Server and check for mail
  • Sync emails from: E-Mail messages older than the selected period will not be synced/available on your phone

Select your preferences on the following:

  • Notify me when email arrive
  • Sync emails from this account
  • Automatically download attachments when connected to Wi-Fi

Tap Next

  • Give this account a name: This could be the email address or a description (Ex. Work Email)
  • Your Name (displayed on outgoing messages): The name you want others to see in the from address

Tap Next

All done! Your new email is ready to use!

Troubleshooting

If your Android device fails to connect to the account, go through the steps again and ensure you have not made any typos.

The most common error is mistyping the host name: mail.b.hostedemail.com

Remember that you must enter the same host name in both the incoming and outgoing settings.

Doublecheck the incoming and outgoing Port and make sure they are set to SSL/TLS.
